Biden Calls Trump ‘Convicted Felon’ After Guilty Verdict

President Joe Biden was all too eager to describe former President Donald Trump as a “convicted felon” while trying to warn donors on Monday that the Republican presidential candidate is a larger “threat” than he was in the 2020 election.

During the fundraising event at the home of former HBO CEO Richard Plepler in Greenwich, Connecticut, Biden said, “For the first time in American history, a former president that is a convicted felon is now seeking the office of the presidency.”

“But as disturbing as that is, more damaging is the all-out assault Donald Trump is making on the American system of justice,” Biden continued, adding, “Something snapped in him when he lost in 2020. He can’t accept he lost and it is literally driving him crazy. He is clearly unhinged. Now after his criminal convictions, it’s clear he’s worried about preserving his freedoms,” he added.

Biden also referred to his political rival as a “convicted felon” at an event in White Plains, New York, later that day.

Bringing on Trump’s guilty verdict in his hush money trial from Manhattan, the president said, “Folks — the campaign entered unchartered territory last week. For the first time in American history, a former president that is a convicted felon is now seeking the office of the presidency.”

“But as disturbing as that is, more damaging is the all-out assault Donald Trump is making on the American system of justice,” he added.

Biden’s camp celebrated Trump’s guilty verdict when it came in last week, with the president saying, “It’s reckless, it’s dangerous, it’s irresponsible for anyone to say this was rigged just because they don’t like the verdict.”

Shortly after the guilty verdict came in on Thursday, the Biden-Harris campaign seized the moment to continue their smear campaign against Trump.

“In New York today, we saw that no one is above the law. Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain,” the campaign wrote in a statement, adding, “But today’s verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality. There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box. Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.”
