Republican Senator Introduces Bill To Preserve American Flag’s Significance

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) took a strong stand on Flag Day, introducing a bill with a clear message: the American flag should be the only flag flown on government buildings. The One Flag for All Act, as it is aptly named, aims to prevent the display of any flag other than the American flag on federal properties, except for a few specific cases.

Marshall’s bill comes as a response to the Biden administration’s misguided decision to fly the pride flag more prominently than the American flag during a gay pride celebration at the White House on Saturday. This act of prioritizing a divisive social agenda over the symbol of our nation’s unity and freedom did not sit well with Marshall and many Republicans and patriots.

In a tweet expressing his frustration, Marshall stated, “This is a disgrace. Not only is it in breach of US Flag Code, but it’s a glaring example of this White House’s incompetence and insistence on putting their social agenda ahead of patriotism.”

Speaking to Fox News Digital, Marshall emphasized the significance of the American flag, saying, “The American flag stands for liberty and justice for ALL and should never be undermined by anyone, especially the President of the United States.”

“It’s a sad state of affairs when the White House prioritizes their radical social agenda over patriotism,” the Kansas lawmaker added.

The One Flag for All Act would ensure that the American flag remains the sole symbol of America’s freedom and sacrifices and that it is never set aside for “culture wars and political points.”

As Marshall passionately declared, “Old Glory must reign supreme as a symbol of our nation’s freedom that thousands of our servicemembers and veterans have fought and died to protect.”

The bill includes some exceptions to accommodate special circumstances. For example, flags representing the state of a member of Congress, flags representing the nation of a visiting diplomat and the POW/MIA flag at military installations would still be allowed to be flown alongside the American flag.

Sen. Marshall’s concerns resonated with many political figures across the spectrum. Among Republican lawmakers who criticized the pride flag display, is Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX).

Roy had expressed his disappointment, tweeting, “We have a duty… [to stand] up in defense of this country instead of a radical Leftist ideology that results in a pride flag being hung at the same level as the US flag on the front of the White House.”

“Does the flag of the United States mean NOTHING?” he asked.

Even Tulsi Gabbard, former Rep. (D-HI) acknowledged the administration’s misstep, tweeting, “Biden Admin continues to push their ‘woke’ trans agenda… it is offensive and shows complete disrespect for the flag so many of my brothers and sisters in uniform fought and died for.”
