After reports that he is considering making former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley his vice presidential running mate, former President Donald Trump has denied having her in his view for the role once again.
According to Axios, multiple sources said that Haley made her way back to the list of the potential candidates Trump is looking at for the role after South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, who was said to be one of Trump’s top potential VP picks, faced heavy backlash over her new book, “No Going Back.”
The Axios report stated that Trump could pick Haley despite the frosty relationship between the two due to their attempts to secure the Republican Party’s nomination for the 2024 presidential election.
According to the report, Haley could be selected for the role if Trump was “convinced she’d help him win the presidency, avoid a potential prison sentence and cover tens of millions in legal bills if he loses.”
The report also said that Haley could end up as Trump’s pick if he believes that she can help him “avoid a potential prison sentence and cover tens of millions in legal bills if he loses.”
Scoop: Haley is under active consideration by Trump's campaign to be VP, 2 ppl familiar with the dynamic told Axios.
The relationship remains chilly, but he could pick her if he’s convinced she'd help him win given the legal/political stakes for himhttps://t.co/aI33WCgn4F

However, hours after the news outlet published the report, Trump made a post on Truth Social denying the news.
“Nikki Haley is not under consideration for the V.P. slot, but I wish her well! DJT,” the GOP presumptive nominee wrote.
A spokesperson for the Trump campaign also shot down the reports, saying, “Only President Trump will rule a contender for Vice President in or out, and anyone claiming to know who he will choose is lying.”
The reports come as Haley continues to refuse to endorse Trump even though he is the Republican Party’s presidential nominee. People from both camps reportedly believe that reconciliation would be best for both sides after months of throwing shots at each other in their respective presidential bids.
According to Axios, Haley has indicated belief that Trump needs to reach out to her if he wants to consolidate the party around him and get her endorsement.
