Tim Scott Reacts To Trump Naming Him As Potential VP

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) responded to former President Donald Trump’s consideration of him as vice president in an interview with Fox News Digital. Without giving away his exact thoughts on his prospects, he said, “The only thing I can tell you is that the one thing we need is four more years of President Donald Trump.”

He then went further to say that his eyes are focused on the ball, as he emphasized the importance of Trump winning the election in November.

In his words, “We were better off under Trump. In order for us to be successful, the one thing I can’t afford to do is take my eye off the ball. The eye on the ball means making sure that President Trump gets four more years.”

Trump had revealed his likely picks during a conversation with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo over the weekend.

Saying that he has “a lot of good people” to choose from and that he “talks to everybody,” he mentioned Scott and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as good options.

“We were better off under Trump. In order for us to be successful, the one thing I can’t afford to do is take my eye off the ball. The eye on the ball means making sure that President Trump gets four more years. When I watched him, he was fine. He was good, but he was very low-key.”

However, Trump would only see the fire Scott carried after he dropped out of the presidential race and decided to endorse him.

“I watched him in the last week, defending me and sticking up for me and fighting for me. I said, ‘Man, you’re a much better person for me than you are for yourself,’ because, for himself, he was low-key. For me, he’s been a real tiger,” he said.

As for Noem, Trump praised her loyalty, saying she “has been incredible fighting for me.”

“She said, I’d never run against him because I can’t beat him. That was a very nice thing to say,” he added.
