Netanyahu Reveals Date Has Been Set For Rafah Invasion

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed that the date for an Israeli military operation in Rafah, a city near Gaza’s border with Egypt has been set.

In a statement posted online by Israel’s Government Press Office on Monday, Netanyahu said, “Today I received a detailed report on the talks in Cairo. We are working constantly to attain our objectives, first and foremost the release of all of our hostages and the achieving of total victory over Hamas. This victory requires entering Rafah and eliminating the terrorist battalions there. This will happen; there is a date.”

The Israeli government also said on Monday that the withdrawal of ground forces from southern Gaza on Sunday did not mean that it had decided against its plan to go into Rafah, which is the last Hamas stronghold.

In a statement to Breitbart News, Israeli government spokesman Avi Hyman stated, “I wouldn’t read too much into the fact that we have moved soldiers in and out of anywhere.”

According to him, “we can move soldiers in and out very easily, and very quickly.”

Asked whether there is enough unity among Israelis to continue the war, Hyman said that April 8 is more like the 185th day of October.

“We still feel the pain … we still remember the sights and smells of October 7th,” he stated, adding that Israelis are united in the plan to destroy Hamas in order to avoid a recurrence of Oct. 7 when Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel.

Per Breitbart, the movement of soldiers from Gaza was a response to pressure from President Joe Biden who demanded an “immediate ceasefire” in the war after seven aid workers were inadvertently killed in an airstrike on April 1.

Israel has taken responsibility for the deaths, with Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari calling the incident “a tragedy.”

“It was a terrible chain of errors and it should never have happened. The IDF takes full responsibility for this regrettable loss of life,” he said, adding that measures were being put in place to ensure that a situation like that does not happen again.
