Former Patrol Chief Says Biden Admin Punished Him For Feedback

The former chief of the United States Border Patrol Rodney Scott revealed on Thursday that the Biden administration retaliated against him for offering critical feedback on the administration’s handling of the border.

Weighing in on Biden’s meeting with the current USBP Chief Jason Owens and Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector Chief Gloria Chavez around Brownsville, Texas during his visit to the less-afflicted border area, Scott called it a “photo op” so that Biden can look committed to solving the migrant crisis ahead of November’s presidential election.

“[I]t’s for the cameras… I hate to get political, but I believe the reason that the Biden administration is down there is if he got that briefing in the White House, there’d be no cameras. There’d be no show,” he said.

“But they know what it takes to secure the border. We handed them the most secure border in the history of the United States and and a roadmap to keep it that way and make it even better, [yet] through 94 executive actions, President Biden completely destroyed border security,” he added.

Scott went on to point out that Biden has the executive authority to undo his reversals of the Trump-era policies that curbed illegal immigration at the border. According to him, the administration and Congressional Democrats’ attempt to put the worsening border crisis on Congressional Republicans’ unwillingness to reach a border deal is not valid as Biden does not need new legislation to secure the border.

Adding that he hopes Biden will listen to advice from Border Patrol officials or rank-and-file, he revealed that his offer of advice while he was chief of the the agency led to his early retirement.

In his words, “I hope [agents are] free to speak openly. But I can tell you from my experience in the Biden administration, that was not the norm. If they speak freely, they’ll probably be out of a job.”

When anchor Martha MacCallum asked if that was his experience, he stated, “That is exactly what happened to me. I was following orders to a certain extent. But I gave feedback, and I told them where I thought things were going to go wrong – And they did not listen to any of the advice we gave them whatsoever.”

According to him, he was “reassigned” but he decided to retire from the agency.
