Trump’s VP Running Mate Will Be A Surprise, Senator Says

Former President Donald Trump might have a surprise brewing with his announcement of his vice presidential running mate. According to Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), none of the names being floated as Trump’s potential pick will make the cut.

Speaking to POLITICO, Tuberville said, “He’ll ask you about people. All I can tell you is, if you’re hearing any names, it ain’t going to be them. It’s all propaganda.”

Various names have been said to be in Trump’s sight for the coveted position, including biotech executive Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who were both in the race to secure the Republican Party’s presidential nomination with Trump.

Other names that have been floated for the role include Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL).

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was Trump’s White House press secretary, is also reportedly being considered by Trump for the position.

While Trump has largely kept his mouth tight as to who his choice will be, a source close to him told The New York Post that Trump has removed Ramaswamy from consideration, even though he is still considering having him on his cabinet should he win November’s election.

The former president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., however, still has Ramaswamy in his sights, alongside Vance and journalist Tucker Carlson, all of whom he described as a “fighter.”

Trump has himself floated potential picks, including Noem and Scott. Asked about them during an interview in February, he said of Scott, “I called Tim Scott … and I said, ‘you’re a much better candidate for me than you are for yourself.’ When I watched Tim, he was fine, he was good, but he was very low-key, et cetera, et cetera.”

“I watched him in the last week defending me and sticking up for me and fighting for me. “I said, man, I said, ‘you’re a much better person for me than you are for yourself’, because, for himself, he was low-key. For me, he’s been a real tiger. He’s been incredible,” he added, hinting that it “could be” the South Carolina lawmaker.

Speaking about Noem’s chances of being his pick, the GOP presumptive nominee stated, “Kristi Noem has been incredible fighting for me. She said, I’d never run against him because I can’t beat him. That was a very nice thing to say.”
