Sen. Hagerty Says Democrats’ Toleration Of Illegal Aliens Is About Power

Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) on Saturday laid out the real reasons behind President Joe Biden’s open border policies and why the left continue to support the flocking of illegal immigrants into the United States and why they include those illegal aliens in the country’s census.

During an appearance on “Breitbart News Saturday,” Hagerty noted that “some 10 million people” have entered into the U.S. illegally since Biden took office in 2021.

“Many people have asked themselves, ‘What’s the motive behind the crime that’s occurring at our southern border?… Why are they doing this carnage, fentanyl coming in? You’ve seen all the crime in the cities. We can’t handle this. Why would they do this?” he asked, adding, “And the motive is clear when you realize that every single Democrat — every single senator — voted to block the legislation I put forward that would prohibit the counting of illegal migrants, illegal aliens, in the apportionment of congressional seats and electoral votes.”

He came to the conclusion that it is all a game of “power” for Biden and the Democrats.

And the motive is clear when you realize that every single Democrat — every single senator — voted to block the legislation I put forward that would prohibit the counting of illegal migrants, illegal aliens, in the apportionment of congressional seats and electoral votes,” he said, concluding that it is “all about power,” Hagerty stated.

“I think with respect to counting illegal aliens in the census proportioning congressional districts, most Americans just don’t believe that. That could be true. But it is, and that’s what’s been happening and that is exactly the motive behind all of this that’s happening in our border right now — the carnage, the chaos, the willingness to see our children dying from fentanyl deaths is because of this quest for power and their desire not to lose congressional seats to red states,” he added.

“If it weren’t for this counting of illegal aliens, Tennessee would have another congressional seat,” the Tennessee lawmaker said further. “Many of the red states would because people are voting with their feet and they’re getting out of these blue states. And this is all about power for the Democrats. That’s why they all voted” against a measure that would block taxpayer funds from being used to “support the flying in of illegal aliens into our country — deep into our country.”

Hagerty’s remarks come a day after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) drew a connection between the growing immigrant problem at the border and election integrity, saying that many migrants vote in the elections without proof of their citizenship thanks to a law called the National Voter Registration Act, which allows people to sign up to vote when they get a driver’s license.

“If an individual only does search, or simply states that they are a citizen, they don’t have to prove it. They can register that person to vote in a federal election, and you see states are currently prohibited, believe it or not, the states are prohibited from asking someone to prove that they are a citizen,” Johnson explained during a joint press conference with former President Donald Trump, while he announced House Republicans’ plans to introduce a bill that will require proof of citizenship to vote.

Pointing out that Democrats do not want a system in which only citizens are allowed to vote in U.S. elections, Johnson said, “We believe that one of their designs, one of the reasons for this open border, which everybody asks all around the country, ‘Why would they do this? Why would they allow all of this chaos? Why the violence?’ Because they want to turn these people into voters.”
