Kamala Harris Claims Border Strategy Is Working Out

The Biden administration is now claiming that its new plan to lessen the number of migrants going from Central America to the United States has worked thus far and brought a “positive impact.”

According to an announcement by Kamala Harris on Monday afternoon, the Department of Homeland Security has witnessed a drop in the number of migrants seen attempting to illegally enter the U.S. after Joe Biden asked her to better conditions in three Central American nations.

“We are already beginning to see positive trends. Data from the Department of Homeland Security shows that the number of migrants from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, where our root causes efforts have been focused, has significantly declined over the last 18 months,” Harris claimed during a White House news conference. “Now, of course, this could change over time, and we will continue to monitor these trends, but this gives us an indication of the positive impact our work has had thus far.”

Data posted to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s website has revealed that almost 95,000 migrants from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras were caught illegally passing through the border or lacked the authorization to go through at a port of entry in July 2021.

The most recently available CBP data found that almost 34,000 migrants from these countries were encountered in Dec. 2022.

Illegal immigration from countries other than Mexico has shot up massively in the past few years. As DHS data going from 2007 reports, Mexicans comprised 90% of arrests that year. In 2019, illegal aliens from the aforementioned Central American countries were included in 70% of all arrests.

As it stands, migrants from nations other than Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras make up 1.1 million of the total 3.4 million arrests, or 32%, per federal data.

Harris has frequently been ridiculed by political commentators for her rhetoric, with some suggesting that she is at times drunk or high when making public appearances.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson reacted to a video of the vice president talking about space and astronauts late last month, saying, “Imagine your dumbest… kindergarten teacher takes a ton of acid and then becomes Vice President,” before adding, “she’s not sober.”
