Former President Donald Trump called for former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) to be jailed along with other members of the January 6 Committee.
“She should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!” Trump wrote in a post to Truth Social. He added links to articles regarding revelations from the House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight, that a claim by former White House official Cassidy Hutchinson that Trump became enraged when Secret Service refused to take him to the Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021.
According to Hutchinson, Trump tried to grab the steering wheel to redirect the SUV to the Capitol after his speech. He also reportedly lunged at the head of security, Bobby Engel, who was trying to stop him, and assaulted him.
However, the House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight, led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), revealed that Trump’s driver “refuted” the claim.
While Hutchinson claims that Anthony Ornato, a senior Secret Service official detailed to the White House and serving as deputy chief of operations, told her about what Trump allegedly did.
However, Shimon Prokupecz of CNN reported that “a Secret Service official familiar with the matter told CNN that Tony Ornato denies telling Cassidy Hutchinson that the former president grabbed the steering wheel or an agent on his detail.”

Another CNN reporter, Gabby Orr, tweeted, “Tony Ornato is denying that he told Cassidy Hutchinson Trump grabbed the steering wheel in presidential vehicle on 1/6 or lunged at a fellow agent, a USSS official tells @joshscampbell. CNN confirms that Ornato & Engel are prepared to testify that neither incident occurred.”

After Trump’s Truth Social post calling for her to be put in jail, Cheney took to X to write, “Hi Donald: you know these are lies. You have had all the grand jury & J6 transcripts for many months. You’re trying to halt your 1/6 trial because your VP, WH counsel, WH aides, campaign & DOJ officials etc will testify against you. You’re afraid of the truth and you should be.”
