MTG Suggests There Is Little Difference Between Johnson And Pelosi

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) compared House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Wednesday, saying that there is very little difference between the two politicians.

In a phone interview, Greene said, “There’s not even any daylight between him and Nancy Pelosi at this point” while trying to make a point that Johnson has continued “the same old crap everybody’s tired of.”

According to the Georgia lawmaker, the House is tired of such lawmakers.

Greene went on to refer to Johnson as a Democrat, claiming that he is Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell’s “twin.”

While Johnson realizes the frustration with his leadership in the House, he stressed the need for unity among Republicans ahead of this year’s elections.

In an interview on Monday, he said, “I share her frustration about the process, but the way for us to fix that is to grow the House majority, and the way to do that is to stand united together on the agenda going forward. So we’re going to have everyone working together. We’ll work on consensus and keep this team. Marjorie knows how high the stakes are for the country. We all do.”

“Marjorie knows how high the stakes are for the country. We all do. And that’s why it’s never been more important for us to stand together, and I think we will. I think all our colleagues understand that. We’re going to get through this, Hakeem is not going to be the speaker, and we’ll take care of business,” he added.

The House Speaker also shared his plans to have a conversation with Greene about her frustrations. The two are set to discuss the issue on Friday, per The Washington Examiner.

Greene wants House Republicans to oust Johnson in a manner similar to the removal of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). While she says her push is not to “inflict pain on our conference and…throw the House in chaos,” some House Republicans do not support that plan as they believe the Republican majority is still suffering from McCarthy’s removal.
