Texas AG Says Biden Admin Is Aiding Drug Cartel

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton came for the Biden administration on Sunday, accusing it of helping cartels move people across the U.S. border. During an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” he condemned the soaring number of immigrants crossing the border, stating, “It’s pretty crazy to see what’s happened over the last three years of the Biden administration. Those numbers, as you have seen, get worse, not better.”

“It’s not like they’re solving the problem. They’re actually helping aid and abet the cartels,” he added. “And then Texas says, ‘We have had enough. We’re going to do something about it.’ And then they threaten us from enforcing our own laws,” he added. “It seems pretty crazy. And it’s hard to believe that we have a government that is working against its own citizens and helping the cartels move as many people across the border as possible.”

The GOP prosecutor’s remarks came three days after the Department of Justice threatened to sue Texas over a law that allows Texas border officials to arrest illegal migrants who cross the border into the United States.

The DOJ sent a letter to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott last Thursday, stating that the Texas law is interfering with the federal government. In the letter, the justice department gave the state till Wednesday to state that it would back off the law, maintaining that the removal of foreign nations who have come into the U.S. is the responsibility of the federal government only.

“Indeed, the Supreme Court has confirmed that ‘the removal process’ must be ‘entrusted to the discretion of the Federal Government’ because a ‘decision on removability’ touches ‘on foreign relations and must be made with one voice,’” the letter stated.

If the state fails to do as required and indicate it will not be enforcing the law, the justice department said that “the United States will pursue all appropriate legal remedies to ensure that Texas does not interfere with the functions of the federal government.”

Abbott, is, however, not fazed by the DOJ’s threats, as a spokeswoman for Abbott said after the letter that Texas is ready for whatever legal action the department wants to bring up.

“Texas is prepared to take this fight all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to protect Texans and Americans from President Biden’s open border policies. President Biden’s deliberate and dangerous inaction at our southern border has left Texas to fend for itself,” she stated.
