The Duke of Sussex has expressed that his late mother, Princess Diana, would have approved of his decision to raise his children with Meghan Markle in America.

Speaking at the New York Times DealBook Summit on Wednesday, Harry shared, “I feel as though it’s the life that my mom wanted for me.”

He continued, “To be able to do the things I’m able to do with my kids that I undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the UK, it’s huge. I’m hugely grateful for that.”

The 40-year-old prince emphasized his commitment to staying in America, expressing his satisfaction with life across the pond. “I very much enjoy living here and bringing up my kids here,” he noted, adding, “It’s a part of my life that I never thought that I was gonna live.”

After stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Markle, 43, relocated to North America, eventually settling in a $14 million Montecito residence that summer.

Earlier this year, Harry discussed the possibility of American citizenship during a “Good Morning America” appearance, stating, “The American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind but is certainly not something that is a high priority for me right now.”

Family tensions have kept Harry from frequent visits to Britain, particularly following the couple’s revealing 2021 Oprah interview and his candid 2023 memoir addressing conflicts with King Charles III and Prince William.

The estrangement continues, primarily due to security concerns when visiting the UK. Recently, Harry has officially declared the US as his residence in business documentation.

Speaking about his West Coast life, Harry enthusiastically shared, “It’s amazing. I love every single day.”
