President Joe Biden claimed that up to nine heads of state have reached out to him to tell him he has to win the 2024 presidential election. According to him, those heads of state told him that their respective democracies would be in danger “if the other guy wins.”
The person referred to as “the other guy” is most likely former President Donald Trump, who is likely to be the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.
“As I walk out of meetings, a head of state will find an excuse to come up close … and say ‘you’ve got to win,’” Biden said at a recent fundraiser in San Francisco. “Not because I’m so special. ‘You’ve got to win because my democracy is at stake if the other guy wins.’ Nine heads of state have done that with me,” he said.
Biden’s claim came as a joke to a significant number of people of social media, as some pulled out their sarcastic shovels and dug out recent claims by the president that he met with and spoke with heads of state who had died way before he took office in 2021.
“Lemme guess: Mitterrand and Kohl were two of them,” Amy Curtis tweeted, taking a jab at Biden for claiming he met with late French President Francois Mitterrand and late German Chancellor Helmut Kohl at a world leader summit in 2021.
His claims had given substance to doubts about his cognitive health, as Kohl died in 2017, three years before the summit and Mitterrand died way before that in 1996.

For one user, the supposed concern of the heads of state has nothing to do with their respective democracies but everything to do with fear that Trump will ensure they live up to their obligations.
