Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump recently shook hands again at Ground Zero in New York City on September 11, 2024.
Harris and Trump both came to New York City after a tumultuous presidential debate on Tuesday night to mark the deaths of nearly 3,000 victims who perished in the coordinated terrorist attacks by commercial planes that were hijacked and intentionally crashed into World Trade Center buildings in New York City and The Pentagon building near Washington D.C.
On the 23rd anniversary of the attacks, President Biden and Vice President Harris were joined by former president Trump and his running mate at Ground Zero. Throughout the ceremony, President Biden, Vice-President Harris, Former-President Trump, and Senator Vance stood shoulder-to-shoulder united in remembrance of both those fallen.
On September 11th, more than 400 first responders sacrificed their lives in the process of saving the victims.
On August 31, 2021 the Biden-Harris administration completed the withdrawal of all U.S. military forces from Afghanistan almost 20 years to-the-day after those horrific attacks on September 11. That withdrawal resulted in the Taliban taking over Afghanistan and forming its new government.
The Taliban had previously been in government as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and hosted al-Qaeda, along with many Palestinian terrorist or radical jihadist organizations which all existed over this area prior to 9/11 attacks.
Each year, September 11 inspires memorials and remembrances of the victims who died during the tragedy at the World Trade Center in New York City while also reminding Americans about their vulnerabilities.
