Law enforcement officials stated that the victim had been operating a truck displaying pro-Trump flags and had just stepped out of his vehicle when Talbot allegedly struck him. The injured individual sought medical treatment at a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening and was subsequently discharged.
When contacted, the Meridian Police Department did not provide an immediate response. A search of Ada County records showed no listing for Talbot’s case or any associated legal representation.
According to jail records, Talbot was detained in Ada County jail without the possibility of posting bond. Law enforcement reportedly filed felony aggravated battery charges against him.

The confrontation occurred during a weekend of demonstrations where protesters expressed their opposition to Musk, his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and Trump’s initiatives to reduce federal spending and restructure government agencies in line with presidential objectives. Reports indicated that the Meridian protest attracted approximately 30 anti-Musk demonstrators and roughly 200 counter-protesters.
The FBI had previously informed the New York Post that they were monitoring Saturday’s events for potential violence and had established a specialized Tesla task force to address what the Trump administration has labeled a pattern of “domestic terrorism” targeting Musk’s enterprise.
