In a troubling series of events, Infowars host Owen Shroyer became the latest victim of “swatting” attacks targeting conservative media figures. Shroyer was forced to exit his Austin residence in shorts while law enforcement treated him as a high-risk suspect.
Meanwhile, Trump’s attorney general has taken a strong stance against the recent wave of attacks on Tesla properties and establishments linked to DOGE director Elon Musk.
AG Pam Bondi issued a statement characterizing these incidents as “domestic terrorism.” She stated, “The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism. The Department of Justice has already charged several perpetrators with that in mind, including in cases that involve charges with five-year mandatory minimum sentences. We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes.”

However, Bondi faces criticism for her seemingly disproportionate response to incidents involving lesser-known conservative figures. The conservative media community has experienced an alarming surge in swatting incidents, including a tragic fatality.
Prior to Shroyer’s incident, conservative radio personality Joe Pags endured a swatting attack at his Comal County residence near San Antonio, with security footage capturing armed deputies responding to the scene. More tragically, Infowars reporter Jamie White lost his life under suspicious circumstances in his apartment complex parking area.
Shroyer expressed his frustration with Bondi’s perceived inaction, questioning whether a fatality would be necessary to prompt meaningful intervention. He also revealed his ongoing firearms restriction stemming from his January 6th Capitol riot arrest, despite receiving a Trump pardon and reporting credible death threats to federal authorities.

The administration appears to be acknowledging these concerns. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced that their website, DHS.gov, would be utilized to track down perpetrators, stating, “has the ability to trace phone numbers and track location information. We will use it to hunt these cowards down. This is an attack on our law enforcement and innocent families and we will prosecute it as such.”
Until concrete action is taken, conservative media members remain on high alert, a situation that creates potential risks for both journalists and law enforcement responding to these false emergencies.
