Sarah Michelle Gellar shared a heartfelt tribute to her “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” co-star Michelle Trachtenberg, who passed away at age 39.

Adapting a poignant quote from the show’s Season 5 finale, Gellar posted on Instagram: “‘Michelle, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world, is to live in it. I will be brave. I will live… for you.’ 💔💔💔🗝️”

The touching post featured a collection of memories, including scenes from their time on set, red carpet appearances, and an intimate photograph showing Trachtenberg cradling one of Gellar’s children.

Their professional relationship began when Trachtenberg joined the cast of “Buffy” in 2000, but their friendship dated back to their earlier work together on “All My Children.”

Tragically, Trachtenberg was discovered unresponsive in her New York City residence on Wednesday morning. She experienced cardiac arrest before her death, as confirmed by The Post. While the official cause remains under investigation, sources revealed she had recently undergone a liver transplant, which her body reportedly rejected.

Those close to the actress disclosed to People magazine that she had been battling significant health challenges and emotional struggles. “She told friends she was struggling,” one insider revealed. “She was really, really sick and open with those in her circle about how much she was struggling.”

A neighbor noticed concerning changes in Trachtenberg’s appearance during recent months, telling Us Weekly she appeared increasingly different from her usual self.

Just weeks before her passing, Trachtenberg addressed public concerns about her health. Responding to comments on a January 2024 Instagram selfie, she wrote: “Explain to me how I look sick. Did you lose a calendar and not realize I’m not 14. I’m 38. How sad for you to leave such a comment.”

The following day, she posted another self-portrait, stating: “I’ve received several comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery. I am happy and healthy. Check yourself haters.”

The entertainment community, including actors Blake Lively and Ed Westwick, has expressed their condolences following the news of her passing.
