Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has sparked controversy with his latest budget bill by implementing significant changes to statutory language, replacing traditional family-related terms with gender-neutral alternatives.
The governor’s office has proposed modifications that strike out conventional terms like “man,” “father,” “mother,” and “wife” from official documents. The term “mother” has been notably substituted with “inseminated person”, while “mother and father” have been changed to “parent who gave birth.”
The legislation also seeks to replace traditional marriage-related terms, with “husband” and “wife” being substituted with “person” and “spouse.”

Hey Tony, tell your "inseminated person" who birthed you that she's not your mother! Are you on the Epstein list… pic.twitter.com/sBZzGns9Tr

State Representative Amanda Nedweski brought attention to these changes through a Facebook post and subsequent press release, expressing strong opposition to the modifications.
“As a proud mother of two, it is absolutely insulting that the Governor, in his 2025-27 budget bill, would reduce me and millions of other mothers across Wisconsin to ‘inseminated persons.’
It is not only deeply offensive, but it is an outright attack on the very essence of motherhood.

It is unconscionable that the Governor has the audacity to take the most beautiful, life-giving act a woman can perform—bringing children into this world—and turn it into nothing more than gender-neutral, virtue-signaling jargon to appease his far-left base.”
The controversial changes have drawn reactions from prominent figures, including tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, who described the move as “messed up.” Former Trump campaign manager Chris LaCivita commented on the situation, stating, “They make it so easy.”
Evers, who began his gubernatorial tenure in 2019, secured a second term in 2022 by defeating Republican challenger Tim Michels in a close race. The state, however, supported Donald Trump in his recent victory over Kamala Harris, contributing to Trump’s success in securing all seven swing states.
