Vice President Kamala Harris has assured, even with President Joe Biden’s performances in debates and interviews, that Biden is good for a current term followed by another. The statement comes in the same week that Fox News Digital revealed more than 80 instances of Biden having unmasked public encounters over last year.
Between July 18, 2023 and July 17, 2024 — when Harris was the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate by default in light of Biden stepping down – she had at least 80 meetings with Biden.
Harris also defended Biden to CNN’s Anderson Cooper after his faltering debate performance against former President Trump in Atlanta this past June.
Vice President Harris has assured that it is certain to her; even with his performances in debates and interviews, President Biden is good for a current term followed by another. The statement comes in the same week that Fox News Digital revealed more than 80 instances of Biden having unmasked public encounters over last year.
Between July 18, 2023 and July 17, 2024 — when Harris was the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate by default in light of Biden stepping down – she had at least:Meeting with president (25); Lunches w/president (8 ); Events w/President /two trips. This prolonged conversation leaves Harris uniquely positioned to declare Biden fit.
But again, these are just the public portions of a record dating back to early 2020 which includes other undocumented time in locations like the Situation Room, such as after terrorist attacks on Israel October 7.
Harris also defended Biden to Cooper after his faltering debate performance against former President Trump in Atlanta last June.
“Yes, there was a slow start, but it was a strong finish. And what became very clear through the course of the night is that Joe Biden is fighting on behalf of the American people on substance, on policy, on performance. Joe Biden is extraordinarily strong,” Harris said last month. “I’m not going to spend all night with you talking about the last 90 minutes when I’ve been watching the last 3.5 years of performance.”
Harris complained earlier this year about a report by Special Counsel Robert Hur, who described Biden as “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” calling it “gratuitous, inaccurate and inappropriate” criticism.”
Still, that Biden stumbled in the June 27 debate only added to a growing list of concerns that was causing alarm about his general election chances among vulnerable Democrats and donors alike.
Biden self-isolated after being tested positive for COVID-19, when on July 21 he released a letter posted on X that he would not run again while expressing his support of Harris.
Harris on the campaign trail had for months been a consistent defender of Biden’s acuity amid various public missteps leading up to the debate.
