Top Democrats Speak Out on Replacing President Biden In 2024 Election

A spokesperson for California Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) said late Tuesday that, “Governor Newsom will head to White House tomorrow to attend the Governors meeting and to stand with the President.”

Democratic governors, including Newsom, are readying to gather with Biden days after the candidate delivered a lackluster performance in Thursday’s debate — prompting widespread concern among Democrats about his ability to go another round. Potential replacement candidates include Newsom, Vice President Kamala Harris, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

According to one news source, Newsom has publicly dismissed suggestions that he might replace Biden this fall.

However, Biden was criticized by the U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). On Biden’s replacement, he commented: “I think they will replace him. I think it’ll be abundantly obvious you cannot convince the American people this guy can serve another four years, that he’s not mentally with it, the world’s too dangerous to have him in the commander-in-chief’s chair, so I think there’s going to be a real move here soon to replace him.”

Graham also said, “Our enemies are watching that debate. I’m very worried about what they took away from this debate. If you’re Iran, you really push before November to get a nuclear weapon before Biden’s compromised. The bottom line here is this is a very dangerous time.”

Graham claimed that any Democrats running on Biden’s record will “pay a heavy price” in future elections.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked Tuesday if Biden has Alzheimer’s or dementia following his disastrous debate yesterday. “Does President Biden, at 81 years old, have Alzheimer’s, any form of dementia or degenerative illness that cause these sorts of lapses? And it’s a yes or no question,” a reporter.

Jean-Pierre snapped back saying, “Are you ready for it? It’s a no. And I hope you’re asking the other guy the same exact question.”

Even after the debate, a spokesperson for Biden’s campaign said that former President Barack Obama offered “unwavering support” to his old 2008 running mate. “President Biden is grateful for President Obama’s unwavering support since the very start of this campaign as both a powerful messenger to voters and a trusted adviser directly to the president,” a spokeswoman for the Biden campaign said.

After the debate, Obama also talked to Biden to offer support as well as chimed in on social media. “Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November.”
