By Changing Candidates, Democrats DISENFRANCHISED VOTERS
On the afternoon of July 21, Democrats stole an election. The Democratic presidential primaries threw 87 percent of the vote, or 14.4 million ballots, upsetting politics.
The November ticket won’t feature these voters’ presidential choices. President Joe Biden is no longer the Democratic nominee.
This unprecedented move calls into question our elections, political elites, and the democratic concept that people choose their representatives.
Our presidential primary system resembles the Electoral College. Voters elect delegates to vote for candidates. Publicly, these two acts are interwoven. Candidates, not electors, are what presidential voters think about. Primary voters assume they’re picking candidates, not delegates.
Some elites and Democratic Party insiders decided Democratic primary votes wouldn’t count in 2024. This is like faithless Electoral College electors who can ignore their candidate. Taking the outcome from citizens and giving it to a few undermines democracy.
After dropping out, President Biden endorsed Kamala Harris. Both are likely in the gamesmanship labyrinth. Voters will have little say in the Democratic nominee. Second, Harris is expected to be the nominee despite 40 percent of Democrats doubting her presidential abilities. Her sole presidential primary garnered 844 votes and 0 delegates.
How would the left nominate Kamala and disenfranchise millions of Democratic primary voters? Party history indicates a path.
Biden’s reelection campaign has been declining because of concerns about his cognitive fitness, spurred in part by special counsel Robert Hur’s Feb. 8 assessment and various players’ criticisms. Democratic voters and Americans of all political shades were repeatedly persuaded that Biden is physically and mentally fit and that to suggest differently is ageist and conspiratorial. This voter manipulation became clearer after the presidential debate when the party ceased discussing Biden’s fitness.
Democratic Party elites have manipulated elections previously. Many believe the DNC “decided” Bernie Sanders’ 2016 campaign. The New York Times reported leaked emails criticizing Sanders and organizing debates. These minor party neutrality infractions pale in comparison to the current situation.
Democratic primary elections are tainted by the nomination of Vice President Harris over President Biden despite millions of votes. Even though July 21 removed an ineligible candidate, millions of Americans’ ballots were meaningless. People, not party elites and Washington insiders, elect our representatives in a democracy. Any deviation from this essential endangers democracy.
