After an anonymous complaint about a controversial and obscene LGBT book being read in an 8th grade classroom in a Massachusetts middle school, a police officer was called to the school earlier in the month. However, the incident caused fury in some progressives.
The book, titled “Gender Queer” is so graphic that it contains illustrations of copulation between two males with a toy. It also depicts masturbation and other explicit content.
A police officer from the Great Barrington Police Department checked in on the school to follow up on the complaint on Dec. 8. However, the officer did not find the book in the English teacher’s classroom.
Per the New York Post, police informed the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office of the issue. However, the inquiry was dropped as the office decided that the matter should be managed with the school.
The incident did not go down well with Democrats and LGBT advocates. Dem. Gov. Maura Healey was also not pleased, as she insisted, “Book banning has no place in Massachusetts.”

According to Healey, children in publicly-funded schools should have access to all books, regardless of how obscene or morally depraved it is.
Efforts to keep the book on children’s bookshelves is alarming, given that the book’s author acknowledged that it is not for children.
Maia Kobabe said, per The Daily Wire, that she does not recommend the book for children, even though she said it might be appropriate for older teenagers.
“It keeps being called a children’s book … but I think that’s coming from a misreading of the comic-book form. ‘Gender Queer’ is a comic, and in full color, but that doesn’t mean it’s for children,” the author, who identifies as non-binary stated in an interview with The Washington Post.
“I originally wrote it for my parents, and then for older teens who were already asking these questions about themselves. I don’t recommend this book for kids!” she added.
