More charges added to star music producer’s trial

Federal prosecutors have added new charges to their case against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, marking the third superseding indictment as his May 5th trial approaches. The latest court filing introduces two additional charges, bringing the total to five, with four accusers now expected to testify against the hip-hop mogul.

Recent allegations claim Combs participated in sex trafficking activities involving multiple women, with incidents reported as recently as 2023. The new superseding indictment details accusations that between 2021 and 2024, Combs used force, fraud, or coercion to compel a woman into commercial sex acts. Manhattan federal prosecutors further allege that during this period, Combs was involved in transporting an individual identified as ‘Victim-2’ and others, including commercial sex workers, for prostitution purposes. These new allegations supplement the existing racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges from his September arrest.

According to prosecutors’ court filing, the racketeering conspiracy charge encompasses allegations of sex trafficking three victims and forcing a fourth, an employee, into sexual activity. Combs currently remains in custody at Brooklyn’s MDC jail. The case’s first superseding indictment in January revealed prosecutors’ claims about at least three women allegedly forced into commercial sex acts by Combs.

This filing also included allegations of him threatening a female victim with a firearm during a kidnapping and suspending another woman over an apartment balcony. The second superseding indictment, filed in March, contained only minor modifications. The mogul maintains his innocence, having pleaded not guilty to the initial charges. These charges assert that Combs, aided by associates and employees, engaged in years of coercion and abuse of women, using blackmail and violence – including kidnapping, arson, and physical assault – to silence victims.

A crucial piece of evidence in the case is March 2016 surveillance footage showing Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, R&B artist Cassie, in a Los Angeles hotel hallway. While prosecutors characterize this incident as occurring during a “Freak Off,” Combs’s legal team describes it as a “glimpse into a complex but decade-long consensual relationship” between the pair.
