Mike Pence Suspends 2024 Presidential Campaign

Former Vice President Mike Pence surprised attendees at the Republican Jewish Coalition Conference in Las Vegas on Saturday when he announced the suspension of his 2024 presidential campaign. Speaking to the audience, Pence explained that after extensive travel across the country, he had come to the realization that now was not his time to lead the nation.

In his address, Pence, who previously served as Vice President under former President Donald Trump, stated, “I came here to say it’s become clear to me that this is not my time. So, after much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president, effective today.”

Going further, he emphasized, “This may not be my time, but it is still your time.”

Pence, who officially launched his presidential campaign back in June, used his announcement in Las Vegas to encourage voters to select a candidate who would appeal to the “better angels of our nature” and guide the nation back to a path of civility.

Despite stepping back from the presidential race, he made it clear that he is not bowing out of politics altogether. In his words, “Now I am leaving this campaign, but let me promise you: I will never leave the fight for conservative values, and I will never stop fighting to elect principled Republican leaders to every office in the land, so help me God.”

Notably, Pence did not immediately endorse any specific candidate, leaving the door open for speculation about his potential support. Trump has expressed hope for the endorsement, citing his track record and how the majority of the candidates that pulled out of the race have endorsed him.

“People are leaving now, and they’re all endorsing me. I don’t know about Mike Pence. He should endorse me. He should endorse me. You know why? Because I had a great successful presidency, and he was the vice president. He should endorse me. I chose him, made him vice president, but people in politics can be very disloyal,” he stated.
