A heated exchange erupted when Marine Corps veteran and Fox News contributor Joey Jones responded to Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton’s controversial remarks about Vice President JD Vance during a recent CNN appearance.

During Monday’s “Fox and Friends” segment, Jones addressed Moulton’s use of the term “pogue” to describe Vance following a tense meeting between Trump, Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Jones explained the deliberate nature of Moulton’s word choice, noting that “pogue” stands for “person other than grunt.” He highlighted how Moulton had previously attempted to diminish Vance’s military service by questioning his combat role.

“But to sit there and call him a ‘pogue,’ person other than grunt, maybe he doesn’t understand this, uh, Seth Moulton, I’m a pogue, I’m a person other than grunt. I wasn’t infantry. I hope that my service doesn’t come across as cowardly to you. I hope that you respect my service. You served with [Republican Rep.] Brian Mast [of Florida]. He’s a pogue, he wasn’t a grunt, he lost his legs. I watched Brian Mast recover with his hands sown to his stomach. So, I don’t know, it’s a very intentional word.”

Jones, who served as an explosive ordnance disposal technician, pointed out that the term has historical connotations and criticized Moulton’s choice to use it. He emphasized that many decorated service members, including female Marines who served in combat before 2012, would technically be classified as “pogues.”

The discussion centered around Vance’s military background as a Marine combat correspondent who served four years, including a tour in Iraq. Jones expressed particular disappointment in Moulton’s behavior as a Marine Corps officer in Congress, suggesting he should focus on policy disagreements rather than resorting to personal attacks.

“I would never call Seth Moulton a coward, because it takes absolute courage or complete stupidity to go on live TV as a Marine Corps officer and call another enlisted Marine who’s risen to vice president a pogue and coward,” Jones said.

The conversation concluded with Jones questioning Moulton’s attention to critical military matters, specifically referencing the Marines lost at Abbey Gate, suggesting that Moulton’s silence on such issues might be more worthy of criticism than Vance’s service record.
