A claim circulating on social media suggesting MSNBC host Rachel Maddow had an emotional breakdown during her show has been proven false.

The viral Facebook post alleged that Maddow broke down in tears and hastily left the set of “The Rachel Maddow Show.” The post stated, “Rachel Maddow broke down crying and ran off set, once again proving the left’s inability to reach age 12.”

Investigation reveals this claim originated from a satirical Facebook page called “America – Love It Or Leave It,” which openly identifies itself as part of the America’s Last Line of Defense network, known for creating satirical content.

While MSNBC has experienced a significant decline in viewership, with Nielsen data showing a 53% drop in primetime audience according to The New York Times, and Maddow’s show specifically seeing one million fewer viewers compared to October averages, the alleged incident never occurred.

No evidence of this supposed breakdown appears on Maddow’s show website or her verified social media platforms. Furthermore, Snopes has debunked this claim, linking its origins to the satirical Facebook post from November 14. The fabricated story appears to have emerged following a New Yorker article from November 10 that discussed Maddow’s concerns about Donald Trump’s potential 2024 victory.

Neither credible news sources nor MSNBC have reported any such incident occurring during Maddow’s broadcast.
