Kamala Harris Leads Donald Trump By 3 Points – New Polling Confirms

Vice President Kamala Harris is gaining ground on several major issues, and according to a new poll leads former President Trump by 3 points. Though the difference is well within the margin of error, Harris significantly leads Trump on top line numbers in a poll conducted by NPR, PBS, and Marist: 51% to 48%. Harris has also cut into Trump’s lead on the economy.

On the subject of illegal immigration, though, Trump still holds a robust 6-point advantage. Harris effectively leads on abortion 55–40.

Marist University conducted their poll August 1-4 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4%.

This comes after a Fox News poll released earlier in the day that showed Trump and Harris tied at 45-45 percent among likely voters in Pennsylvania, also a key battleground state this November.

The Pennsylvania figure is identical to what the pair got in April, as are similar figures at comparable moments nation-wide. Harris and Trump are knotted at 49-49% in Pennsylvania, mirroring the final results of last year’s presidential election there (Biden finished with 0.16 percentage points over Trump from all four of those battlegrounds).

Along with a tightening contest overall, the poll shows Trump gaining ground within several key voter demographics: voters under 30 (from -27 points in April to -4 now), those age 65 and older (from tied in April at +5) or suburban women (-32 then to -12 now). And among college graduates (-18 last spring to -10 currently. ). Trump also went from +8 to+9 with Independents.
