Things got tense for Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance when a plane carrying him was forced to make an unexpected and swift return to Milwaukee International Airport. The Boeing 737, named Trump Force Two, had just taken off when the pilot noticed something wasn’t quite right with the door seal.
Vance’s spokeswoman, Taylor Van Kirk, explained that the plane had to return to Milwaukee after the pilot declared an emergency. In just under an hour, the plane was back on the ground, safe and sound.
After a quick check and fix, the plane was cleared for takeoff again, heading back on its original path to Cincinnati, where Vance lives..
As Kirk revealed: “As soon as the issue was resolved, the plane returned to its originally planned flight path back to Cincinnati.”
The Ohio senator was reportedly returning from a campaign event in Milwaukee and had been traveling with his wife Usha and dog Atlas. He also had with him campaign staff and reporters when the incident happened.
This isn’t the first time the GOP campaign has had a brush with trouble in the skies. Just last week, former President Donald Trump himself had a scare when his plane had to make an emergency landing on the way to a rally in Montana.
The plane was reportedly forced to land in Billings, cutting short his trip to Bozeman, where he was headed to support Tim Sheehy, a Republican Senate nominee and former Navy SEAL.

Speaking to Newsweek, a Billings-Logan International Airport official said the Republican presidential candidate’s plane “had a mechanical issue and will be diverting into Billings, he will continue to Bozeman on a private jet.”
There were no reports of any injuries due to the incident.
