Rudy Giuliani has resolved the $148 million defamation judgment awarded to two Georgia election workers, according to court documents filed Monday in Manhattan federal court.
The former New York City mayor reached a settlement with Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea’ “Shaye” Moss on January 16, following their successful lawsuit over his false claims that they participated in election fraud during the 2020 presidential election.
While the specific terms of the settlement remain confidential, Giuliani indicated he would retain ownership of his Upper East Side apartment in Manhattan and his Palm Beach, Florida condominium. He also agreed to cease making defamatory statements about the plaintiffs.

The settlement eliminated the need for a trial before U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman regarding whether Giuliani could keep his Florida property and his New York Yankees World Series rings, which he received during his mayoral tenure from 1994 to 2001.
The resolution comes after a Washington, D.C. jury awarded Freeman and Moss the substantial judgment in December 2023. When contacted, attorneys representing both parties did not provide immediate comments on the settlement.
"Crazy that Rudy Giuliani was ordered to pay $140 million for saying a rigged election was rigged, but not a single Democrat or journalist had to pay anything for saying Trump colluded with Russia for 3+ years".

The former Trump adviser’s legal challenges continue, as he faces criminal charges in both Arizona and Georgia related to alleged attempts to overturn Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. Giuliani maintains his innocence in these cases.
In a related development, Judge Liman recently denied a motion from a firm seeking compensation for unpaid fees from Giuliani’s dismissed bankruptcy case. The firm had requested to be appointed receiver for his Manhattan residence.
