A woman in Florida, was recently blessed with a $2 million lottery prize, leaving her ecstatic and filled with gratitude. Geraldine Gimblet, a resident of Lakeland, had no idea that her visit to the Pipkin Road Beverage Castle gas station would be a demonstration of a stroke of luck.
According to reports, the gas station clerk thought there were no lottery tickets left, but Gimblet insisted that he double-check because she loved the crossword games. To her pleasant surprise, he found the last $10 Cashword Scratch-Off ticket, which turned out to be a winning ticket worth $2 million.

Launched in May 2022, the $10 game, $2,000,000 BONUS CASHWORD, features eight top prizes of $2 million and 20 second-tier prizes of $100,000. Per the Florida Lottery’s news release, the game involves players receiving a set of 20 letters and participating in three distinct games.
In each game, players aim to match three or more words with their given letters and receive a cash prize according to the payout listed. Additionally, players have the opportunity to double their winnings by obtaining a “MONEYBAG” symbol.
Gimblet was shocked and elated by her newfound fortune. Recounting how she had never had any luck winning anything in her life, she said that winning the lottery was beyond her wildest dreams. The unexpected fortune also could not have come at a significant time for her, as her daughter had just completed her last treatment for breast cancer.
According to the daughter, Gimblet had “taken out her life savings” to pay for her care during her illness.
“The day before my mom bought this ticket, I rang the bell and walked out of the hospital after completing my last treatment for breast cancer. My mom had taken out her life savings to take care of me when I was sick. I’m just so happy for her!” the daughter stated.
The prize came in the form of a lump sum payment of $1,645,000, as selected by Gimblet. Given how her daughter’s recovery from cancer was an emotional milestone for the family, Gimblet’s unexpected lottery win only added to Gimblet’s renewed sense of gratitude and relief.
