A Florida homeowner who fatally shot an intruder during a break-in received strong support from Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells, who emphasized that individuals breaking into Florida homes should anticipate being shot.
The incident occurred in Bradenton, Florida, when a homeowner encountered intruders in his residence around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. The confrontation resulted in one intruder being shot, who later succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning.

“[The homeowner] knew something bad was about to happen and he didn’t stall. He grabbed his firearm [and] told his wife to get into a safe spot,” Sheriff Wells stated in his remarks to Fox News.

The sheriff further reinforced his stance on home defense, declaring, “This is the state of Florida. If you want to break into someone’s home, you should expect to be shot.”
Law enforcement identified the deceased intruder as Jorge Nestevan Flores-Toledo, a 23-year-old individual from Mexico. His accomplice, who managed to escape when the homeowner initiated defensive action, was later identified as Michel Soto-Mella, described as an undocumented immigrant from Chile. Authorities have charged Soto-Mella with armed burglary.
