DeSantis Leads Airlift Mission To Rescue Stranded Americans In Israel

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has undertaken a daring operation to evacuate 300 American citizens who found themselves trapped in Israel. The mission, set to arrive in Florida on Sunday night, has captured the hearts of pro-Israelis across the nation.

DeSantis, a GOP presidential candidate, personally oversaw the operation. He will be present at Tampa International Airport, alongside Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis, to warmly welcome home those returning on the flight, according to a report by The Messenger.

This heroic effort was initiated in response to the recent deadly terror attacks by Hamas in Israel, which tragically claimed the lives of more than two dozen Americans. Governor DeSantis wasted no time in taking action.

On Thursday, he signed an executive order that authorized the state to conduct rescue and evacuation operations in Israel, filling the void left by the lackluster response from President Joe Biden’s administration.

In a scathing critique of President Biden’s foreign policy handling, DeSantis stated, “The Biden administration has failed to launch any form of rescue or evacuation operations for Americans, including Floridians, stranded in the region, and has failed to provide information requested by the State of Florida about any plans for such operations.”

DeSantis pointed out that Biden’s approach amounted to merely putting people on flights and leaving them stranded in Europe, forcing them to sign waivers promising to reimburse the U.S. government for the flights. This, in the Florida governor’s view, was a dereliction of duty on the part of the federal government.

“We’re leading in Florida. I just signed an executive order. We’re going to be sending our own planes and we’re going to be bringing people right to back to Florida,” the presidential candidate said in a clip obtained by CBS News.

Responding to the urgent need, the Florida Division of Emergency Management announced its commitment to assisting those stranded in Athens. They posted on Sunday night, “If you are stranded in Athens and in need of safe transportation back to the United States, we may be able to assist you.” They provided a link (http://FloridaDisaster.org/Israel) for individuals to complete a form and urged everyone in need of assistance to share it widely.

DeSantis’ Press Secretary, Jeremy Redfern, encouraged those who were abandoned in Athens to take action. “If the Biden Administration dumped you in Athens, fill out the form at the link below,” he emphasized.
