Social media users slammed former CNN host Don Lemon after he mocked a recent video of ex-first lady Melania Trump discussing the assassination attempt against her husband, former President Donald Trump.
The assassination attempt occurred on July 13, during which one of Trump’s supporters, Corey Comperatore, was killed. Lemon posted a video to his social media accounts this week, in which his reaction to the Melania Trump video is superimposed over the former first lady’s video.
In this video, she describes the day of the assassination attempt as “horrible, distressing” and says “there’s more to the story.”
Approximately speaking before the release of her memoir “Melania,” she claimed, “The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience. Now, the silence around it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder, why didn’t law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech?”
The YouTube version of Lemon’s clip, which appears to have been subtitled by somebody who wrote, “Why does it look like A.I?!?” is located over the video.
Conservatives slammed Lemon for making a mockery of the scene, with some calling him “attention-hungry.”
Paul Szypula, a right-wing commentator dubbed “Hey @donlemon, so can you have empathy for a human without considering politics for once in your life?”
Stacy Washington, a radio host, added, “Lemon should do good,” “Nobody should support a former president’s attempted killer, who really killed an innocent person in the crowd. Please, Don Lemon, do better.”
Ian Miles Cheong, a reporter, dubbed him “a deranged psycho,” a “sick freak.”
Sky News host Rita Panahi added, “Why is Don Lemon attempting to ridicule a woman who was panicked by her husband’s assassination attempt?” “It’s the sickest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”
