Facebook and Instagram are testing a Twitter Blue-esque subscription service called Meta Verified, parent company Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg announced Sunday.
Mark Zuckerberg announced Sunday that Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is currently testing a new subscription service in the mold of Elon Musk’s Twitter Blue.
The service, called Meta Verified, would increase security, according to the CEO.
“This week, we’re starting to roll out Meta Verified — a subscription service that lets you verify your account … this new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services,” Zuckerberg said via his “Meta Channel.”
Meta’s subscription service could be advantaged by having seen the initial negative effects of Twitter Blue on Musk’s platform.
Meta Verified would reportedly include “proactive monitoring for account impersonation,” which was a big problem for Twitter Blue upon its launch, NPR reports.
Musk took to Twitter to share his reaction – a simple laughing emoji – in response to a Twitter user’s meme showing Zuckerberg copying off of Musk’s paper.
