Mayors in Arizona and Texas stressed the broad set of border requirements for Americans living along different areas, which is why it’s critical that the next president visits the U.S-Mexico border.
An Arizona rancher, whose sprawling remote property reaches up to the uncompleted southern border wall has sounded off to Fox News Digital as well. Under the current border surge of the Biden-Harris Administration, he’s seen thousands cross into America annually that are cartels connected or from Middle Eastern origins.
He also went after Vice President Harris, who is in charge of immigration control and noted that his cameras are catching hundreds [of illegal crossings] on a daily basis.
“She is the border czar, she’s always been the border czar, and she’s been a total failure at preventing people from coming into our country,” said Jim Chilton, an Arizona rancher whose 50,000-acre property includes the incomplete end of former President Trump’s border wall.
“For the last six months, we’ve been averaging about 100 people a day coming from Mexico around the end of the wall,” he told Fox News Digital. And those are the ones who aren’t hiding. Others, escorted by cartel smugglers, wear camouflage and carpet shoes and try to avoid detection, he said.
“We’ve not seen a decrease in them either,” he said. “On Saturday, I ran into a group of about a dozen. They appeared to be from the Middle East, and they were in bad shape.”
“Vice President Harris, you have not secured the border. I’ve heard you say it was secure. It’s not secure. And we need to secure the border at the international border. We’re a sovereign country,” he continued.
Chilton has five motion detector-based cameras set up across his ranch, each with coverage of 10,000 acres.
Harris and her allies have sought to distance her from the border crisis, rejecting calls for Harris’ appointment as a “border czar”, even though lawmakers did vote on this.
Last Wednesday at a campaign rally, Trump called Harris “the architect of the border invasion” and accused the Biden administration of presiding over record illegal immigration. He pointed to a chart that reached an all-time high in March during the Biden-Harris administration, but hit historic lows by the end of his own presidency.
Trump cited a recent Homeland Security alert highlighting potential threats to police from the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua and other crimes against women and girls, such as the slaying of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston. Two illegal Venezuelans have been arrested by the Police.
The border crisis is a daily sufferance for the family members of victims like Jocelyn and ordinary Americans such as Chilton.
Chilton singled out the slowness of sheriff’s deputies to respond in emergencies on his isolated property.
“We have to defend ourselves the way my ancestors had to defend themselves because we have no real law enforcement,” Chilton said. “And I am outraged. I have five and a half miles of the international border, and Trump’s wall came out five miles. The end of the wall is on my ranch.”
