Texas Governor Abbott has expressed strong support for President-elect Trump’s appointment of Tom Homan as border czar, highlighting Homan’s extensive experience in immigration enforcement spanning over three decades.
“There’s a tall task for President Trump to find, to locate these people, and then to deport them or to jail them: We’ve got the right guy in charge of it,” Abbott stated during an appearance on “The Cats Roundtable” on New York’s 77 WABC News Radio.

Homan, who has become known for his tough stance on border security, recently embraced controversial terminology during a Newsmax appearance. When questioned about the phrase “mass deportations,” he firmly stated, “I am fine with the term ‘mass deportations.'”
Despite current criticism from Biden-Harris supporters, Homan’s career notably includes service during the Obama administration, where he was viewed as more moderate. He played a key role in developing the family separation policy that began under Obama, though this policy later became a point of contention during Trump’s presidency.
A memorable moment in Homan’s career occurred during a Congressional exchange with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, where he defended his position on illegal border crossings by citing specific laws.

“We go to work this coming week on solving the border problems in the state of Texas, as well as across the United States of America,” Abbott told host John Catsimatidis.
Homan has issued strong warnings to sanctuary city leaders, emphasizing legal consequences for impeding federal immigration enforcement. During a recent appearance on Newsmax’s “America Right Now,” he declared, “Help us or get out of the way. Don’t step over a line because there’s a line they can’t cross. Don’t impede us, actively impede us, because that is a crime. Do not knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien from ICE because that’s a crime.”
