Trump Slams Fox News For Moving Left, Signals Possible Support For CNN

Although Fox News Channel continues to represent a conservative editorial stance in its primetime lineup, some of Donald Trump’s supporters believe its news coverage is insufficiently aligned with the former president.

Trump himself addressed his concern that the network is shifting to the left in a recent post to his Truth Social platform.

He accused the network of “really pushing the Democrats and the Democrat agenda,” citing his belief that liberals are given preferential treatment during on-air interviews.

“Gets worse every single day,” Trump wrote. “So many Dems interviewed with only softball questions, then Republican counterparts get creamed.”

One recent example that attracted some right-wing criticism of Fox News involved an interview with Kari Lake, a Republican running for governor in Arizona. Host Bret Baier used the segment to highlight the salacious claim that Lake hired a drag queen to perform for a party attended by her young daughter.

“I am really shocked,” the candidate told Baier. “I am actually appalled that Fox News would take a defamatory story like that, and we are pursuing legal action against this drag queen.”

She went on to admonish the network for refusing to discuss “our stolen election,” adding: “I thought you were better than CNN.”

Meanwhile, CNN’s new CEO, Chris Licht, appears to be instituting a more moderate take on the news in hopes of capturing a broader audience amid sagging ratings since the end of Trump’s term in office.

The former president addressed this shift in his recent post, suggesting that he could be convinced to switch his allegiance from Fox News to “low ratings” CNN.

Trump wrote that if the formerly far-left network decided to embrace conservatism, “they would be an absolute gold mine, and I would help them to do so!”

A number of prominent liberals, however, are calling for a boycott of CNN based on its move away from a reflexively left-wing slant in its news coverage.

In addition to severing ties with several high-profile correspondents and hosts, some critics say that CNN seems to be encouraging its on-air personalities to take a more critical tone toward President Joe Biden.

Host Briana Keilar attracted some backlash for her analysis of Biden’s recent speech.

“Whatever you think of this speech the military is supposed to be apolitical,” she tweeted. “Positioning Marines in uniform behind President Biden for a political speech flies in the face of that. It’s wrong when Democrats do it. It’s wrong when Republicans do it.”
