Trump: DOJ Must Investigate Cassidy Hutchinson for ‘Lying Under Oath’

Former President Donald Trump has called on the Department of Justice to investigate Cassidy Hutchinson for “lying under oath” after she made a series of obviously false claims about him in front of the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot.

Hutchinson, who was an aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows in the final days of the Trump administration, testified before the committee on Tuesday. During her testimony, she made several claims about the former president that were easily debunked. Some of the claims were so ridiculous, that even the left-wing mainstream media was forced to report that they were likely false.

Responding to the claims made by Hutchinson, Trump sent out several posts on his social media app, Truth Social, on Thursday night, questioning whether there was a two-tiered system of justice in the United States because she will likely not be held accountable for her lies.

“Social climber Hutchinson lied about my attack on our great Secret Service, lied about her writing the White House note, lied about my throwing food at a wall in the Oval Office, & lied about my wanting to be surrounded by ‘people with guns’ during my ‘Go Peacefully and Patriotically’ speech (how crazy is that?), yet no guns were found in the Capitol,” the former president wrote.

“These lies, among others, were made under oath. What is the Justice Department going to do about this? Do we have a two-tiered system of justice?” Trump asked.

In a subsequent post, the former president went on to reiterate that Hutchinson is simply a disgruntled castoff from his post-presidency team, asserting that even after the events of January 6 she had sought to work for him in Florida. Trump added that he has documented evidence to back up that assertion.

“…Cassidy Hutchinson also forgot to tell the Unselects that she was desperate to go to Florida with certain others of the Trump staff, long after January 6th had come and gone,” he wrote. “If I was so evil, why did she fight so hard to stay a part of the MAGA TEAM? This is all documented in writing!”

rump also noted that, during the public hearing, Hutchinson expounded on previous depositions she gave behind closed doors for the Jan. 6 committee, adding new allegations.

“Why did it take her so long to tell (makeup!) these ridiculous and obviously fake stories, even after previously sitting for four long depositions?” Trump asked. “Was it, just maybe, her brand new lawyer? Lying under oath???”
