The Biden administration has introduced a new intersectional office for the purpose of “environmental justice”. This move is being perceived by many as a sign of allegiance to the Democratic Party’s leftist roots.
This new Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ) was created under the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) wing. Its primary duty is to pursue environmental justice, and it can engage all bureaus of the Justice Department to do so.
The broad agenda of the new office is mentioned on its website under the Comprehensive Environmental Justice Enforcement Strategy.
According to the Biden administration, this strategy maps out a plan for using the DOJ’s criminal and civil enforcement authorities while working with other governmental bodies, in order to pursue environmental justice.
It will reduce systemic environmental injustices and help preserve natural resources that have been undermined and exploited over the years.
While announcing OEJ, Attorney General Merrick Garland stated that the department also aims to help historically marginalized communities, such as people of color and native Americans, by giving them the environmental justice that they deserve.
OEJ’s attention towards racial and classist dimensions shows its allegiance to the Democratic Party’s left-wing ideology, according to which the interests of different identities or factions are interdependent, from abortion rights to concerns of LGBTQ to redistribution of wealth to reformation of the criminal justice system.
The Biden administration’s such stances can be seen in their previous policies as well, like the National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality in 2021, which brought together global warming, abortion, sexual orientation, immigration and many more, under its responsibilty.
The new office also focuses on the climate change narrative based on anthropogenic global warming. Instead of natural phenomena, it is believed that human activity is the primary cause of global warming.
There is a widespread misrepresentation of the devastating impact of global warming on people’s lives all over the world. Data collected from the International Disasters Database shows that deaths caused by climate-related issues have gone down since the 1920s.
According to Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore, anthropogenic global warming is a hoax.
Overall, people are confused about the new office and its responsibilities. PJ Media’s Rick Morgan feels the real issue would be how far the government will go to overregulate private lives and businesses of Americans to enforce environmental laws.
