Sen. Grassley Criticizes FBI’s ‘Political Interference’ in Hunter Biden Case

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who first made public the news that FBI officials had acted to downplay evidence against Hunter Biden, criticized the intelligence agency in an interview this week.

Speaking to Fox News’ Trey Gowdy on Sunday, Grassley recounted the information he had discovered about the FBI’s partisan maneuvering and said the news would cause the agency “to lose credibility” in the eyes of Americans.

“We had concrete information about a lot of things Hunter Biden has done, and he stopped that and labeled it as disinformation,” Grassley said. “Now, that is political interference in the FBI. And it is going to cause people to lose credibility in the FBI, and every citizen ought to have the most confidence you could ever have in an agency like the FBI.”

In a letter he sent to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland last week, Grassley detailed how multiple “highly credible” whistleblowers had informed him about a Democratic bias within the FBI.

The whistleblowers alleged that FBI officials had discredited evidence against Hunter Biden as “disinformation” in order to halt the investigation into the younger Biden and his foreign business dealings.

In the interview Sunday, Grassley said that Wray would be appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, and that he hoped the FBI director would be able to provide lawmakers “concrete information” about how he planned to address the intelligence agency’s political bias.

“Now, we’re going to have … Director Wray before our committee on Thursday, and he is going to have a lot of questions about this,” Grassley said.

“And he ought to know that he is going to have to show us concrete information and plans that he is going to be able to change the culture in the FBI, where there is a party or power that makes a decision of whether or not investigations go ahead,” he continued. “It has got to be no political bias whatsoever in any of these decisions.”

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, remains under federal investigation for overseas business deals he pursued while his father was vice president in the Obama administration.
