Ryan Appears To Support Late-Term Abortion With No Restrictions

Democratic Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, the party’s nominee for his state’s open Senate seat, shockingly appeared to tell CNN anchor Dana Bash that he supports unrestricted abortion right up until birth.

On CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, Ryan said that late-term abortions should not occur unless there is a medical issue. He prefaced by saying “of course we don’t support abortion at the end of term.”

However, he went on to say that if something tragic happens, that is up to the doctor — not politicians — in this “very serious situation.”

Bash pressed Ryan, however, by pointing out that as a legislator and not a doctor he should answer whether there will be “some restrictions when it comes to the law of the land.”

The candidate said that lawmakers cannot make decisions on every circumstance in another attempt to avoid the question, but Bash persisted. She told him that he sounded like he was endorsing “no restrictions.”

Ryan, however, dug in. Saying it is a “rare” occurrence, he asked if a woman’s right to choose right up until the end will be preserved “to save her own life.” He added that Roe v. Wade had “worked for almost half a century” and slammed “extremists” for upsetting the status quo.

This is not the first time that Ryan has gone to such an extreme in his pro-abortion stance. In a May interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, he said that he does not believe there should be any restrictions on abortion.

And while Ryan and others tell Americans that pro-lifers are the extremists, it is these abortion radicals who are far outside of the U.S. mainstream. Poll after poll shows that most Americans, including 49% of Democrats, want abortion restricted primarily to the first trimester.

In fact, according to the 2022 Marist poll, 71% of Americans want abortion limited to the first trimester — at most.

Some of the radical Democratic candidates will not go on record opposing forcing pro-life doctors to perform abortions. This is something that only a paltry 20% of Americans endorse. Ryan showed himself to be the true extremist, even within his own leftist party.
