Failed presidential candidate, Hilary Clinton, may have eased her way out of politics, but politics isn’t finished with her yet. Clinton went from blaming Russia for her failed presidential run to now finding herself in a position where Russia might hold more of the cards than originally anticipated.
A list of top United States officials, and some of their family members, have now been sanctioned by Russia. Isn’t it convenient that it’s at a time when Hunter Biden’s laptop comes back up in the New York Times? He’s also being sanctioned, by the way.
Max Seedon, Moscow Bureau Chief at the Financial Times, tweeted that “Russia has sanctioned Joe Biden and a range of other top US officials. The main impact of this is that they can now make corny jokes on cable news about how they won’t be able to access their Russian bank accounts or go on vacation in Siberia, I guess.”
The list is long, including President Joe Biden, Antony Blinken,Jen Psaki, Daleep Singh (Deputy National Security Advisor), Samantha Power (United States Agency for Internal Development), Hunter Biden, Hilary Clinton and many more.
More than anything, this seems to be a competition between Russia and the United States. There’s no telling who will be impacted most by the sanctions. But it may very well be the Biden family or the Clinton family. Most of their history has been in Ukraine; maybe that’s why it’s so important to defend them.
In response, Clinton tweeted, “I want to thank the Russian Academy for this Lifetime Achievement Award.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the sanctions were “an inevitable consequence of the extremely Russophobic course taken by the current U.S. Administration, which in a desperate attempt to maintain American hegemony, has relied, discarding all decency, on the frontal constricting of Russia.”
Most politicians on the list have said publicly that the sanctions won’t have any effect on them — we still haven’t heard anything from Hunter.
Former President Donald Trump weighed in on the sanction in an email that said: “Breaking News: Russia just sanctioned Joe Biden. While that is a terrible thing, in so many ways, perhaps it will now be explained why the Biden family received $3.5 million from the very wealthy former Mayor of Moscow’s wife. During our Presidential Debate, ‘moderator’ Chris Wallace, then of Fox, would not let me ask that question. He said it was inappropriate. Perhaps that’s why Biden has been so ‘slow to the draw’ with Russia. This is a really bad conflict of interest that will, perhaps now, be fully and finally revealed!”
In the past, it’s been very easy to tell that conservatives and Democrats have held very opposite viewpoints. That line is becoming very blurry as both parties have expanded on specific issues and some even stray far away from their original viewpoint. Peace is ultimately what the people of America, Ukraine and Russia want. It’s the governments that want the war.
