Pro-Life Teen Was Brutally Beaten While Canvassing

A pro-life teen volunteer was reportedly assaulted brutally and harassed while canvassing in Kansas for an upcoming ballot initiative about abortion.

A police report has been filed after 18-year-old Grace Hartsock, a volunteer with Students for Life Action, alleged that a woman inside one of the homes she visited during her canvassing chased her, shoved her and repeatedly punched her in the head — all while screaming curse words and other awful things at the teen.

“It’s unfathomable that the pro-choice movement claims to be ‘pro-woman’ and yet attacks women who don’t agree with their narrative,” the pro-life volunteer said in a statement. “It’s not surprising to me that a person who advocates for violence in the womb wouldn’t hesitate to attack a pro-life woman like myself.”

In a blog post at SFLAction, Hartsock recalled the incident, saying that she had stopped at a home where a woman politely told her, “No, I’m sorry, I don’t think you want to talk to us.”

Before the pro-life activist could turn away, she heard another voice coming from inside the house that was much less polite — another woman, presumably the daughter of the woman who answered the door, who was screaming expletives directed at her.

“Don’t apologize to her, mom,” yelled the woman.

When Hartsock turned to leave, the woman who had been yelling at her allegedly ran out of the front door after her and began chasing her.

“The woman shoved Hartsock in the chest with both hands and began hitting her in the head with closed fists. Hartsock attempted to protect herself and leave while the resident’s mother told her daughter to stop the violence,” the post from SFLAction states.

“Hartsock told police that as she made it down the driveway to get distance from the irate pro-abortion supporter, the daughter threw a piece of food that hit her in the face, and she followed Hartsock down the street screaming curses and phrases such as, ‘I hope you get raped,’ and ‘I hope you get run over by a car,’” the post continued.

Hartsock was brought to a local emergency room to get checked out. The teen is okay physically, according to SFLAction, but was emotionally shaken by the incident.

Despite what she went through, Hartsock was undeterred, and resumed canvassing the next day.

A spokeswoman for Students for Life told The Daily Wire on Tuesday that the group is considering taking civil legal action against the attacker, though they are first going to wait to see how the charges develop in the case.

“We will vigorously protect and defend any students who volunteer with us and will simply not tolerate these kinds of actions,” SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins said in a statement to The Daily Wire. “People who are thinking about harming the students should know that the full weight of the law will be brought against them.”

In a statement released Monday, Hawkins discussed the documented violence against the pro-life movement that has occurred since the early draft opinion was first leaked which revealed that the Supreme Court was poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, returning the issue of abortion to the states.

“As reported to police, a grown woman took out her frustrations over abortion on a teenager who volunteered to let people know about the Kansas ballot initiative. This brings abortion radicals’ ‘Summer of Rage’ close to home,” Hawkins blasted. “But the Pro-Life Generation will not be forced into silence or fear because of radical pro-abortionists who show no regard for life, inside or outside of the womb, and no respect for the free speech rights of their fellow citizens.”
