CNN Host Don Lemon has stepped down as the host of the upcoming New York City event themed around race and real estate in honor of Black History Month following the backlash from his misogynistic actions.
There have been concerns about Lemon’s statement and how the furious backlash over his misogynist comments could overshadow the upcoming event. The NYC event coordinator Douglas Elliman shares the same sentiments and believes Lemon should step aside from the forthcoming event. Lemon’s relief from his upcoming duties seems rational as questions regarding his comments may be hauled at him during the event, which may taint the event’s purpose.
Lemon found himself in hot water when he said 2024 Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley was “past her prime.” Lemon’s comments attracted criticism from both sides of the aisle on the House floor and within the mainstream media. The CNN host said Haley was unfit to comment on the age of other politicians.

“This whole talk about age makes me uncomfortable. I think it’s the wrong road to go down. She says people, you know, politicians are suddenly not in their prime. Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime,” Lemon said in his statement.

Lemon stated further that all women past the age of 30 are past their prime.
“That’s not according to me. It’s like, prime. If you look it up, if you Google when is a woman in her prime, it’ll say 20s, 30s, and 40s,” Lemon added when co-hosts Poppy Harlow challenged him. “I’m just saying Nikki Haley should be careful about saying that politicians are not in their prime and they need to be in their prime when they serve. Because she wouldn’t be in her prime according to, you know, Google.”

Lemon’s controversial comment was in response to the Republican presidential Nominee’s campaign speech, where she called for mental competency tests for politicians over the age of 75. It’s unclear who Haley’s speech was targeted at, but it is safe to assume that President Joe Biden may be the object of Haley’s comments.
