CNN’s New CEO Shared His Vision For the Company

CNN has not been doing so well lately.

After the Trump administration left the White House, CNN saw its viewership ratings plummet significantly. This is because a huge amount of its following was due to not putting out fair news coverage, but it was a result of the network’s bashing of Trump.

With Trump out of office, CNN lost its cash cow, so to speak. Then, not long after Trump left the White House, CNN got another wave of bad news.

Many of their employers have been fired and now face legal problems, due to predatory behaviors toward underage children in some cases. Former CNN producer John Griffin is just one example of this.

Suffice it to say, the viability of CNN is on life support, to say the least. However, the network’s new CEO, David Zaslav, is looking to take the company in a different direction, per Red State.

Can CNN Still Turn Over a New Leaf?

During a recent interview with talk show host Oprah Winfrey, Zaslav clearly shared what he wants to do with CNN.

The new CEO explained the network needs to return to covering facts and news, rather than talk show hosts sharing their opinions about the news and various politicians. Believe it or not, this is how CNN first began; yet, somewhere along the way, the network greatly veered off course.

Zaslav now claims he’s going to get CNN back on the right track. This is a measure that he says will lead to a “civilized society” later down the line.

In yet another interesting twist, the new CEO confirmed that some employees at CNN will be terminated in order to cut back on unnecessary moving parts.

A Long Way to Go

To this day, there are countless Americans who view CNN as a left-wing propaganda network that runs interference for the Democrat Party.

It’s not totally impossible for CNN to change this perception with new leadership. However, it’s going to take some time.

After years of being an openly left-wing news network, CNN will have to consistently take a different course of action in order to be regarded differently by the American public. If Zaslav is able to pull off the types of changes he’s talked about, there’s a very real possibility CNN could see its viewership ratings increase one day.

In the meantime, though, CNN’s got a lot of work to do and a lot of damage to undo.
